- Im guessing you are talking about a wireless range extender. It really depends on what signal streangth and connection speed you are currently receiving. Unless you are currently receiving a very low signal, 1 or 2 bars, and your connection speeds are low then it probably wont help much.

- What do you see as speed.. The time it takes for a package to get to it's destination , ( response time in games , latency) that can be measured with the ping command If you mean data bandwidth , as in amount of data / time that's something entirely different. Your problem can have numerous reasons , you could be too close to a cellular phone mast , you could be on the same frequency as your neighbors , you could have too many walls between your computer and your wireless router.. all these things can influence both latency and transfer speed i always recommend people to use a cat5 utp cable , if it only takes a little hole in a wall , jeez go for the hole !! don't mess with gimp wireless. Also your wireless network is very unlikely to be the bottleneck in your internet speed , if it is , you have serious problems. kind regards
- Only if the wireless signal being poor is the reason you have a slow connection in the first place.
- Your Wireless speed has nothing to do with your Internet speed, but rather the speed of your network connection. Your WAP speed is on the network side of the connection, not the internet side. When I first created my wireless network I thought it had something to do with my internet speed too, but found out it doesn't. It only affects the speed between your networked computers, the rate you can move a file from one to the other, not the speed in which you can transfer data from your network, out into the internet, and to another networked computer elsewhere. Nor does it affect the speed in which you browse the web. It has to do with the speed of streaming data once it hits your network, but not before. Internet<<>>Modem<>Router/WAP<>computers. The speed is between WAP<>computers. It affect this part(<>) not the Internet<<>>Modem or Modem<>Router/WAP. Do you see now? It is only on your private network where the WAP speed matters or pertains to your systems. Now, it will boost your network transfer speed, but that is all. Good luck and have a nice day.
- its easier to think in terms of light when you are connected to a land based pc, your speed will be faster as it travels through light (but not at light speed lol) however when you use wireless the connection has to pass from light to sound which as we know travels slower, which will always cause a dilution to your 'speed'
