Wireless Signal Boosters

Wireless signal weak from access point to laptop cause of distance. Are there antennas, boosters for laptop?

Laptop/PC user trying to reach free access point from a distance, wherein signal strength is weak (1-2 bars only), but wish to increase capture range of wireless adapter via an antenna, or some kind of booster adapter to network signal as no control over network signal or distance from access point (on sailboat in marina). Can and/or how can you plug in an omni directional antenna to your computer and/or wireless adapter. Thanks

1. When I was in a big computer store, I saw products that claimed to boost the signal or relay it.
2. You might want to try looking for a wireless repeater. (Note: repeater not a range extender) Here's one that may work for you: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833162127 Wireless Repeater: A device that extends the range of a wireless network. The repeater is typically placed half way between the access point and the wireless computers and printers. It is a stand-alone device that only requires power and does not connect to the wired network.
