DIY wireless signal booster?
Hi, is there a do it yourself wireless internet signal booster than can be made from household utensils or stuff? I want to extend the range of my cheap wireless USB adapter Please don't send me links about pringle cans, dumpling strainers.

- If you don't want links to those type of adaptations, you don't want a boosted signal. These are the things that work.
- If you can attach external antennas to it then there are a number of options, including pringle cantennas and a quad antenna made from beer (or other aluminum) cans, but since you don't seem to want those... You can crack open the USB adapter and try to find the antenna then solder something onto it to extend its length. Anything electrically conductive will work, it's better if it's not shielded (i.e. has no insulation), and you have to be careful to keep it electrically isolated from everything else inside (so put a piece of electrical tape between the other components and it). You could use a length of wire, you could use a paperclip, it really doesn't matter as long as it's electrically conductive. This will boost your signal strength to a degree, it won't give you the boost an external directional antenna would but it should increase the gain of your antenna.
- http://videojug.com there is a video on there showing you how to make it and attatch it.
- it sounds to me you want to increase the strength of your reciever it doesnt work that way you need to increase the strength of the transmitter. ask your neighbor to install a better transmitter so you can get the internet for free
