Wireless Signal Boosters

Can I buy a signal booster for my laptop so I can get a better wireless signal?

Is there anything I can buy to get a better wireless signal. I live in a big house and in a room on the top floor I can't get signal. Is there anything I can buy/do to get a better signal? (Apart from obviously go downstairs, which I am having to do at the moment) Thanks

1. I suggest you try changing the position of the router. If you were using a good wireless router you would got in all the rooms.
2. there are ungainly solutions involving tin cans and tin foil - but impractical for most normal folk. 3. if the wireless router is near the stairwell the reception is usually improved but there is also a setting on some routers where you can change the wireless signal from auto to manual and try one of the other channels..........try 7 or 8.... if you type in the the run box ..."cmd" then in the dos box "ipconfig /all" this will give router address and then type that address in run box this will access the router and usually the passwords for the router are admin and user name admin.
