  1. 1 kilo meter to a mile depending on the obstructions in the way. 5280 feet. No Obstructions. Do a yahoo search to see what other people are getting. I have heard stories of several miles based on a 1000mw power booster. But be forewarned, if you are close to an airport this will cause interference. And they will come and get you. Its also a felony.
  2. A lot still depends on LINE OF SITE! If you can "see" the antenna (within the 120 degree area of radiation) then several miles! The "other end" also has to be able to talk back! So it too will need a directional antenna and enough power to reach back to the source! The antenna needs to be outside and mounted in the clear! You do need to be careful - 9dbi + 30db amp = 39DB radiated power which is illegal in the US and far exceeds UK allowable limits! - The fines are very high by the way!. (UK has a 20db power limit!) http://www.solwise.co.uk/networkingwireless.htm We use less power and higher gain antennas (within legal limits) that have covered 8 -10 miles with full bandwidth. Using directional antennas on both ends. The other issue is what else is in the area. If there are lots of AP's and routers, you range will be cut drastically!
