Wireless Signal Boosters

Does anyone know how get a better wifi signal?(from a usb adapter)?

I recently bought a Belkin N1 Wifi Usb adapter and am pleased with it so far. The only problem is that even though it was the most expensive from the Belkin series and said it had the most range I still find it to lose signal strengh sometimes for no apparent reason. Is there anyway to recieve better signals altering or doing w/e to the usb adapter or my desktop? I have seen of those can boosters in which you take a can and adjust so it can boost your signal but can you use those with a usb adapter? And can anyone list any hacks you can to the adapter or cool things you can do with it to make it better or faster?

  1. i suggest getting your own wireless rtr and stop stealing other peoples. then you can set your rtr how ever you want and get a great signal. you cant alter your usb to be a wireless magnet.
  2. Actually there is a way. You'll need a USB extension and a kitchen strainer of a certain type. I read the details here: http://www.instructables.com/id/EC0S9C3F0HPZCGN/ and you'll see that there are other parabolic kitchen items that will work too. Another source is here: http://www.educypedia.be/electronics/antennawlanparabola.htm This should help a bit. If you're using a community access wifi signal, which some buildings or municipalities set up, then see if a signal repeater can be placed closer to your rooms. If you are taking someone else's wifi signal, then you're at their mercy for bandwidth. The best course of action is not to do that. It's rude. And illegal. Get your own ISP and wireless router.
