Wireless Signal Boosters

Do they make a booster to make a Wifi signal stronger?

We have a Wifi hot spot in our town and i am on the outer edge of the signal

  1. they should, yesterday at walmart i saw some sort of speedbooster. It said it boot's your speed by 30%. Im not really sure but you could check it out.
  2. This might sound stupid but ive heard it works Get some tin foil and make it into a mini satalight dish (half a sphere type shape) and put it behind the router/wireless receiver facing the direction of the wifi hotspot
  3. Companies like linksys offer "Signal Extenders," however they would need to be fairly close to the source. If you are on the outer edge now, you would need to place the extender at a distance of about half way, for it to run under optimum performance. At your current location, the signal has already degraded, so boosting it is nearly impossible. Don't get me wrong, it will work, but not to its capability.
  4. Use a Wifi Biquad antenna. They arent that expensive to make, and its internet for free. Heres how to make one. http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/15/how-to-build-a-wifi-biquad-dish-antenna/
  5. no. to be legal, they are limited in power. the best way to increase coverage is get a better antenna. check out these guys www.rflinx.com
