Wireless Signal Boosters

Can you use a laptop as a WiFi signal booster?

I have an xbox in a far room of my house, the wifi signal from my D-Link DGL-4300 router doesn't reach because there are two stone walls in between it and the Xbox. Is it possible to use a laptop as a wireless signal booster or "Bridge"? I know you can do this with a spare wireless router, but I don't have one. Thanks!
