Wireless Signal Boosters

Boost indoor wifi card signal to Ethernet router from outside?

Hi there. We are trying to find a solution for my father's temporary office set up. They are in an explosion proof building and uses his verizon wifi card to get the signal to his router which supplies the rest of his employees with Internet. They connect directly to the router (ethernet). Forgive my technically challenged explanation. At first we just thought he could use a booster until we realized it would only boost a wifi signal and not the signal to his wifi card supplying the wifi to Ethernet. Again, my apologies for my technical ineptitude. What he is wanting to find out is if there is something that will boost his signal coming into his wifi card before it even gets to the router. The signal inside the building is now halved and it's prohibiting his team from sending or receiving large files for their projects. We've been scouring the Internet but haven't found an answer. Any suggestions? Oh! He has thought about putting his router and wifi card outside of his building but really isn't an option as it leaves it exposed to the elements. Now, we're all confused. If any other info is needed let me know. Many thanks to any who can help.

  1. try using an antenna?
  2. Have you tried changing the antenna's to a higher db gain 9 or so may help. If that doesn't work you could get a different wifi card. I personally just bought a alfa wireless card. It allows me to sit in my kitchen and get 4 of 5 bars on my neighbors wifi that is about 2.5/3 acre's away. The b/g one is 1 watt were the b/g/n version is 2 watts and should have much better range. I currently have the 1watt b/g edition. http://www.amazon.com/Alfa-Wireless-Original-9dBi-Strongest/dp/B001O9X9EU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1272414552&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/High-Gain-Long-Rang-Alfa-9dBi-Mount/dp/B0038Q4AIG/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1272414552&sr=8-6
