- I used it for a while I got it off the internet for like $5 for 3 off them but it really didn't help.
- The best type to get are "Masthead Amplifier" ones that sit right at the aerial because otherwise you're also amplifying any noise that the long aerial cable receives and generates. This one, for example http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=36573&doy=11m7 £15.99 (might also need the power unit at £12.99)
- Put simply the best signal booster is the one that will do the job you want at the price you are happy to pay. Not knowing where you live it is difficult to talk meaningfully about prices. I am in Australia and I buy signal boosters starting from around the AU$40 mark retail. My advice if you have a normal domestic installation in mind is to purchase a mains powered 240 or 110volts unit depending on your country of residence. It should have 1 input for antenna signal and 2 outputs for boosted(amplified) signal output. Ensure that your house cabling is RG6/QUAD SHIELDED in a "Ring" installation so that EVERY TV outlet is served by a satellite/digital broadband 2-way splitter and that the RG6 signal cable goes around to all outlets in a LOOP with the final connection being from the last 2way splitter back to the 2nd booster output. This ensures that all TV's get a 2-way amplified signal supplied throughout the whole ring circuit. The result? Perfect reception on every TV! Of course I am talking to you as a Technician used to dealing with this sort of setup. If you are not with me on this...just refer my answer to your local TV antenna install guy. This type of install will "future-proof" your home and give it added value should you sell your home.
