Wireless Signal Boosters

how do I use an old wireless router as a signal booster or as a range extender?

my wireless router doesnt reach to my attic room all too well, and i have an old netgear router, is there a way i could use this to somehow pick up the wifi and rebrodcast it? Or do anything to extend the range of the router thanks
