how can i increase my wireless signal from my router the most?
hi at my parents house we have a linksys wireless g router and i can pick up signal on my laptop about 100 feet away sometimes....i recently got a house and moved about 1/4 of a mile from my parents. whats the best way to pick up the wifi signal? get bigger better antennas like the 9dbi knockoffs on ebay or get a booster of someother kind? ive also thought about a super cantenna but i would like to go the cheapest route since i will be splitting the bill if i can get a signal

- you can only make a signal so strong. wait, 1/4 a mile? that's like what? 1,000 something ft? you're not get connect from an omnidirectional set up 1000ft away. pay for ur own internet. you moved out, be on your own. directional antenna would mean your parents don't get their own internet everywhere in their own home, they would only get it between their router and your house, not everywhere like they're probably used to.
- Best idea is to get a directional antenna at both premises. Because you need to send as well as receive data to and from the router you will need an decent aerial at both houses.
