Does running Ethernet to a wireless repeater reduce the effects of the half-duplex nature of WIFI? What I would like to know is if I set up a wireless repeater and then connect it to the main network via Ethernet will I still need to deal with the half-bandwidth ordeal that is normally seen in wireless repeaters or will the data travel via Ethernet at full bandwidth? I would like more than just an answer, it would be nice if you would explain why not, if the answer is no. Thanks in advance.

Setting up wireless repeaters (few questions)? If i was to set up a wireless repeater, a) would the dhcp have to be disabled on the slave hubs b) therefore will a sperate ip be given to each device by each repeater c) will ssid's of the repeaters have to be the same across the network, and will it automatically switch to the best connection. d) will connecting to one repeater as the initial (first ever) connection allow all repeaters to be accessed, or will all the others have to be added in seperately (and is this only if they have the same ssid and key) e) repeaters are all connected via ethernet, is WPA still available this way? f) should they all be on different channels? g) do i have to broadcast the ssid's? h) is there anything else I should know? Thanks! I'm alright at technical stuff but had a few questions i had not learnt by experience yet! lol Well a wds then?

Problems connecting to psn network from wireless repeater? So I got a wireless repeater in hopes of being able to get online with my ps3 from my basement, but whenever I attempt to log in to it by entering the passcode, it tells me that it can't log me in, and my passcode is incorrect, when I know for a fact it is not. I am using the same passcode on my phone and pc, and both work. Signal strength is 100%, so that isn't an issue. Suggestions?
How effective are wireless repeaters? Our house is awful for signals - little to no cell service, and our wireless barely extends from the mancave to the edge of the living room. I got my fiance a kinect for christmas (her and her sisters like to do the wii dance games, so she wanted it), and I'm contemplating buying a second xbox as we'll have to move it into the living room for her kinect, and I don't want to tie up the main TV if I'm playing regular xbox. However, I'd like to have internet access for both consols, and even though you do get a signal all over the house, I'm afraid the wireless signal would be too weak to get a decent connection for online gaming. If I set up a repeater, how much would it help the signal for the xbox that was far from the router? Thanks Big E - That's exactly what I was worried of - that the repeater would delay the signal and hold it up for gaming. It's too far to run ethernet, so I'll test it out with just the router, see how it goes, and then try out a repeater. If the repeater isn't any better (or makes it worse), I'll return it. Thanks Jamfo - I never had seen those before. Only problem with the powerline is that my house is really old (120ish years), and the wiring isn't great, so it may not work as well. Definitely is intriguing though.
How to use a wireless router as a WIRELESS repeater? I have an extra wireless router at my house, and would like to use it as a repeater to enhance the signal range in the house. Thanks

Which is a better choice, Xbox N Wireless Adapter or Wireless Repeater? The Issue: My Xbox is upstairs (75ft away) from my wireless router. I cannot use an ethernet cable. The built-in wireless is god awful (but my laptop works wondrously in the same area!). Should I sink my money into buying the Xbox N Wireless Adapter or a cheap wireless repeater? P.S. - I have tried shutting off all other cpu's that might drain bandwidth.
does using a wireless repeater decrease network speed? my fibre optic connection is on the first floor and my ps3 is on the 3rd floor. i can't obtain a signal when i'm on the 3rd floor and i was asked to use a wireless repeater to extend my wireless range. however, i am a gamer, so would the wireless repeater decrease my wireless speed?
Boosting wireless signal in basement computer? I just moved into the bottom floor(like a basement) of my grandpa's house, and the wireless signal from his router to my computer is very limited connectivity most times. My iPod connects perfectly but my computer is much slower. I know there are wireless repeaters but do they work to improve signal when in the same room as the router or do you have to have them in a different area to see a difference? I can't find anything about how they work!
How to use a WRT110 router as a wireless repeater? I want to use my WRT110 router to repeat the wireless signal from my WRT54G router. Is there any way i can do this? NO, i do not want to connect the 110 to the 54G via ethernet cable. I want the WRT110 to take the wireless signal from my 54G and broadcast it.
Can I set up a wireless repeater with just 2 routers? I have a D-Link wireless router that I'm currently using normally. I now have a Netgear wireless router with wireless bridging/repeating functions and I'm not using it. Is it more complicated?

What's the difference between a wireless repeater and extender? What's the difference, which is better, which can I get for under $100. I'm about 150 feet away from the wireless router with a truck and window in between. (I'm picking up wireless signal with my laptop right now but only at the window closest) Please help
What are good and inexpensive wireless repeaters to extend my wifi signal? I need to extend the wifi signal in my home. What are some reliable but inexpensive repeaters/expanders? My wifi router is a linksys WRT54G2. Do I have to make sure my repeater is compatible? Will all repeaters be compatible? Also: I've heard that you can install DD-WRT onto old linksys routers to turn them into repeaters, but unfortunately my old router model is not compatible. Would buying an old router and installing DD-WRT be a worthwhile option? Would it actually be any cheaper than buying a new (or used) repeater, and would it be worth the hassle of installing the DD-WRT (i dont know how hard that would be)? Thanks for the response! So I actually used to have an big antenna thingy to extend the signal of my old router, but my new one does not have any antennas at all. It is just a flat box, and i dont see any holes or anything where an antenna could hook up. Is there a way that i could attach an antenna through an ethernet plug or something....?
A question about wireless repeaters? I was looking at http://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-Technology-Wireless-N-Essential-WHR-HP-G300N/dp/B002WBV2T8/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1299976232&sr=1-1 I would like to use it to hook up my TV, Xbox 360 and satellite box to the internet (all of which don't have WiFi receivers). I have a wifi router, but since these don't have receivers and I don't feel like running a bunch of cables through my house, I was wondering if this worked well for this. Or if there is a better solution? Thanks. And I love you all.
Which wireless router penetrates walls the best? I currently have a D-Link DI-634M wireless super-G pre-N MIMO router, with the corresponding D-Link DWL-G650M wireless card on my laptop. I've been unhappy with the loss of signal as I move my laptop into other rooms. More than one room away from the router, and signal drops unacceptably. At the time I bought this router, this MIMO technology was all the rage. But I'm really unhappy with the indoor through-wall range. Ideally, I'd like to cover my house with wireless signal without festooning it with wireless repeaters. Is there a really powerful wireless router you recommend which is good at penetrating walls?
How can i extend my wireless signal for free? I usually go like three houses down the road with my laptop to a friends house. But my wireless signal doesn't go that far. It reaches but its really poor signal and it will connect but then it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I don't have any money to buy any wireless repeater or anything like that. I already have extended antennas on the router but their just not doing the job. So I was just wondering if their is any free way to extended the signal and do it for free?
Are repeaters or Wireless extenders Legal? Talking about cell phones here and the spectrum and FCC and companies ownin all that... do they actually work? and don't they actually make things worse eventually...due to the noise floor being pushed up? Please, PLEASE hopefully an SPE or engineer can check into this and clarify this.. thanks!!
Does a wireless repeater really work? _I have an independent room a bit far from the main house, were my modem is. The rare times I get signal is really low, so I was wondering if buying a wireless repeater/receiver would work. IF so, which model should I buy? I have an orange livebox.
How can i convert a Netgear WGT624 v4 Wifi Router to a WIRELESS Repeater? I am currently using a standard Cisco wifi router as the router used at home. My friend had this old wifi router which i asked from him thinking i could use it as a repeater since the current router at home can't reach some parts of the house. It would greatly help if you can have a step by step procedure on this as i am not that knowledgable about these things. Thanks a lot in advance!
How can you use a desktop computer as a wireless repeater? I have two computers in my home, and the router near one because of annoyingly laid out wires. I am told that I can use my second computer to pick up the signal and rebroadcast it with more strength, but I can't figure out how with Windows XP... I'm hoping to get more signal strength to my PS3 which has terrible reception, anyone know what I gotta do?
What is the best wireless repaeter for Ps3? I have a wireless router in the den and a ps3 in the back of my house. My signal is usually around 30-40%. I have a linksys WRT54GS2 wireless router. What would be the best wireless repeater to buy for my ps3.

If I want to add a wireless IP Camera to my existing home wireless network, what is the easiest way to do it? Should I use a wireless repeater to connect the IP camera to the existing wireless network, or some other type of device? Can you get a wireless booster that you can plug into wall socket? Yeh I have a laptop at one end of my house and the main computer is at other end. the main computer is connected to the BT Home Hub by the ethernet cable and the laptop just about connects wirelessly to the router. Is there any signal repeaters/ wireless boosters that can act as the "middle man" by being plugged into a wall socket and then the booster connects wirelessly to the main router and then repeats the signal on further?
How can i extend my wireless range for my router? Hi everyone, i have my dsl modem connected to a D-Link DI524 Wireless Router. I can get a clear signal when im downstairs (where the router is) but when i go upstairs, i still get the signal, but i frequently get drop outs. I actually read up on this online, and someone told me that i need a wireless repeater/wireless access point, so i looked around for the prices of these and they're around $120AUD. So im wondering if i purchase this antenna, would i be able to use the internet upstairs without getting any dropouts? Thanks in advance!

I've set up a wireless repeater to boost a signal around the house, but around the same time every night, for a couple hours, it will fail to pick up a wireless signal, while Internet is maintained through a direct connection to the base. What's up with the repeater? Do I need to move it closer to the base?
Choosing a wireless repeater: does OS matter? I have several Macs and one PC and am looking to buy a wireless repeater to boost the signal downstairs (router is upstairs). Practically all of the ones on Amazon seem to be Windows-compatible or just don't specify OS requirements. Obviously, I want to be absolutely sure that whatever I buy will work for me! Does anyone have any recommendations or advice? Thanks so much :)

How can I test a REPEATER on a WIRELESS network? Hi, I just put to work a repeater for my wireless network. I would like to know how I can test to see if the repeater is actually doing its job. I am using a D-link DWL-G800P ( I know a little old) I know I get the signal from my original router but now I don't know for sure if this little divice can help me boost more signal or not. D-link does not specify how is this dive supposed to be used so I decided to set it on one corner to get signal from a hallway directly to a living room. Take care!

Setting up wireless network - adding a wireless repeater? I have a home network setup for connecting to the internet in my house. DI-624 D-Link router, and it allows everyone to connect just fine. I also have a repeater that I want to hook up to the router, so I can connect in an extended range, as opposed to the short range there is now. How can I hook up the repeater to the router allowing it to add connection range, and still have some sort of security (MAC address filtering is my best guess at what could be used, but I would prefer to use WEP or WPA) on the network?
What is the best wireless bridge/extender/repeater? By best I mean, longest lasting, furthest range, most compatible wireless bridge/extender/repeater. I really need it to get wifi in the other side of my house. ALSO, it needs to be compatible with a 2wire router. If anyone knows anything I could do please tell me, I was looking into an airport express then I realized that it is only compatible as an extender with the other apple router. I'm a PC by the way. Thanks, Johnny

Outdoor Wireless 2.4Ghz Repeater with WEP 128 Bit, cant find sutiable model for under £100? I am looking to extend the range of a wireless network, the network in particular has a wireless router at the bottom of a garden in an office, which is approximatly 80 Meters from the house. I am wanting to extend the wireless range from the office to the house, I can get power to the garden but not an cat5 as I have allready tried this and there are power lines running down the garden causing to much interferance. I would like to know of a suitable 802.11g wireless repeater that can be used externally from a 240v mains supply the repeater would have to support encription (wep 128 bit) and would have to be weather proof. Has anyone come across this situation before or would have any cheap solutions to it. Many thanks
Wireless Routers, Access Points, Repeaters? They are essentially the same hardware, are they not? Can you mod/hack just about any router to repeat the signal or must you buy so-called repeaters to do that? I have a Linksys WRT54GX2 MIMO router with fixed antennas. I need to direct the signal to a structure several hundreds of feet away. Will modding the antennas with DIY parabolic reflector work or just screw up the echo tech of this device? Is there a better way to modify/replace the antennas that are said to be non-replaceable? Should I ditch this router altogether for something like the WRT54G V.4 or below to take advantage of Linux hacks and replaceable antennas? I'm looking at repeaters but they are generally pricey. Access Points and Routers abound for much less and I cannot understand why that is since they appear on the surface to be the same type of hardware.
how do you setup a wireless repeater? i currently have a router setup in my house but there are weak spots all over. if i got a repeater, it would be able to send the signal from the router to a lot of those weak spots. (please dont suggest i move the router to more of a central location, due to my current circumstance, i cant)
