Why isn't my wireless internet working NETGEAR wireless access point WG602? My qwest router's wireless crapped but it still works hardwired. So I came up with the idea of plugging in an ethernet cable to my Netgear WAP and yesterday the wifi was working just fine, but now, not so much.
Incompatability between Netgear access point & edimax wireless usb adapter? I have the above trying to go wireless. The netgear is the ME 102 version of the access point (802.11b). The Edimax wireless adapter is showing in network connections but is saying not connected & cannot find wireless access. I have it attached to Telewest Blueyonder broadband, all lights sing & dance but there appears to be an incompatability. Help please. The access point has WEP/WPA set up will this cause problems?
Help with Netgear wireless access point? So, I just plugged this is and am getting wireless internet access from it, but it's a separate network than my main internet, and it's unsecured. 1. Can I set it up to be a part of my main network? 2. If not, how to I chuck a password on it?
Netgear Wireless access point setup ? I have my router working, it gives me internet through a LAN cable. The internet works fine without having to input an IP, i can use an auto one fine (same with DNS server). I have plugged the LAN cable into my Netgear access point, but when i connect to it via my laptop, i can only access the network and not the internet. Please can i have instructions, detailed, step by step, how to set the access point up, so that it will broadcast the internet, under a name that i desire, using an access password that i desire, where i dont have to enter an IP (Auto IP is on) or DNS. The access point does work in this way, because i have one working like i want somewhere else, but i didn't set it up. i did read the instructions, but this didn't work either. thanks regarding what ankit said, i cannot connect to the access point, i tried the IP he told me, and then the one on the bottom of the access point, nether worked, i just got page load error. my IP was set to auto. and also where he says "also enter ur whole IP address and DNS address", where do i get the IP to imput here from, is it the one i get when i use the internet wired, like now? thanks Ok got into the settings, but there, what do i change the IP to, do i just keep DHCP on? when i disable it and put in my IP that i get when i connect the LAN to my computer it stops working and i cant log back in or anything. I have this set up somewhere else, so i know it can work, but i just dont know how to set it up. the access point is plugged into the router. in the set up for the accesspoint, where do i enter the IP for my router, if i enable DHCP, i cannot enter an ip, and if i disable it, and i enter the ip, i can no longer log onto the settings, and i have to reset to factory settings. Ok, looking at what people say on the internet. they seem to say that it should work as soon as you plug it into your internet box, and you only need to adjust the settings to add security and a name. if this is the case, then i probably have a faulty one, can someone please tell me what to do, is my box faulty. Plus, i am using it with a cable internet modem, will the netgear WG602v4 work with this? yes, the laptop has wifi and works fine with internet normally (on other wifi).

My auntie also has an old netgear access router, she has a ZyAir card attached to her laptop that enables her to connect wirelessly but again I cannot connect to internet when in her house. How do I set a password for Netgear Wireless Access Point? I set up a Netgear Wireless Access Point several months ago and never password protected it - we didn't think it a problem if other people could benefit. But now we're starting to get odd messages about conflicting IP addresses, etc. and I would like to set a password. Problem is, I can't find Netgear, period, on the computer !! There is no icon in the system tray, and under programmes, when opening the Netgear folder, there are only sub-folders with info, nowhere where I can seem to change settings. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Is it possible to use a Netgear WG111v2 USB wireless adapter as a wireless access point for my wired network? I'm trying to get internet access for my Wii, and I'm not going to purchase a wireless router because I ordered one with a laptop that's coming in a month. I was hoping there would be some way to use my USB adapter as an access point so that I can still access the internet from my Wii in the meantime.
why can't i get my Netgear WPN802 v2 wireless access point to work with my virgin media modem? internet previously worked fine with the old router, but broke, so now have acquired a Netgear WPN802 v2. now i can't set it up to run the internet through. i can connect the virgin media modem (model no. E08C013.00, if that's relevant) straight into my ethernet port and access the internet that way, and my wireless card picks up the netgear network, but i can't access the internet through the netgear network when the modem is connected to the access point. after looking around for a solution, it seems that subnet mask may be the problem, and i should access the netgear router settings by typing in http://192.168.0.231. but when i attempt this, it just times out and won't connect. occasionally it will make a connection, but then i get the message "there appears to be a problem with this website's security certificate" i can ignore this warning to get to the configuration page for the router, but when i try to save any changes to settings, it just times out again, leaving the default, and incorrect settings in place. how can i resolve this? i tried the alternate ip addresses, they time out too. and i can't see the whole link for the other answer....
Does the Netgear powerline adapter act as a wireless access point? I am considering buying this: Netgear WGXB102, the powerline network adapters. My question is, once I plug one into the router & outlet upstairs, and then plug the other into an outlet downstairs will the one downstairs broadcast a wireless signal? Is there anything that does that?
Why cant I access my NETGEAR access point? I'm trying to put on a lock on my Netgear wireless access point. But for some reason, when I try to put the IP address in, it goes to the Linksys Gateway site. I tried unplugging the gateway and typing it in again but for some reason it wont work!! I tried IPs like 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, all kinds of IPs. The IP under the access point was 192.168.0.227 but that didn't work... I need this asap. Thanks guys. ..........

I just got a "Wireless Access Point/ Router?" what the world does it do? I'm NOT a computer techy guy- Someone just gave me a NETGEAR Wireless Access Point thing. Can someone explain to me in laymans term what it does? I currently log on to the internet via wireless signal that are "borrowed" from other people in my apt building that do not have their signals encrypted. My laptop just picks up the signals. Is this access point thing something that can benefit me? Will it create another free signal or make the ones available much stronger? If not, i'm selling it because I do NOT plan on paying for an internet service FYI- I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT YOUR IDEALS ON "STEALING" OR "LEGALITY" OF MY INTERNET CONNECTION. If people are tard enough to not encrypt the signal then it is a free open source for the public to use, just like free WIFI hotspots anywhere.

How do I set up a netgear wireless router as an access point? I recently got a new wireless router for my network and decided to set up my old wireless router as an access point to increase the range of my network. However I am having difficulty getting it to work - I can't get the two routers to connect to each other. I've tried following various instructions that I've found on the internet but none of them seem to work, so I'm hoping someone here can help. Here's what I've done so far: -Changed the IP address on my old router to 192.168.0.50. -Disabled the use router as DHCP server option on my old router. -Set the range for the DHCP server in my new router not to include the old router's IP address i.e. 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.49. -I've also tried changing various settings in the wireless options: mode, channel, etc. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Help configuring a Netgear dg834gt 108mbps super wireless adsl router with a Linksys WAP54G wireless access? Hi, I am reallly realy new to this. My access point is connected to the router (Netgear). 1 other computer is also connected to this router. In terms of producing a signal and accessing the internet via the wireless point, there is no problem. However, i just cannot seem to access the in built web configuration utility on the Linksys access point. Currently the wireless network is unsecured as a result of there being no access to set up the necessary security procedures. In the documentation etc. the default address for the WAP54G point is 192.168.1.245. Typing this ip address into any web browsers on any computer on the whole network (both hardwired computers and wireless) brings no result. The Linksys CD recognises and picks up the wireless router. When i try to change settings via this CD software i cannot access the router because any password I try doesnt work. I have seen people say change ip address of router, but I am too new to this to understand. Please help!

How can I setup my wireless ADSL internet connection on Vista with a Netgear WG602? Hi. I've been given a WG602 Netgear wireless access point the other day. My place has the internet all ready to go and all I need to setup a connection. I have had the access point reset and connected it according to its manual. The other thing that I've been given is a instruction text as follow that I don't know how or where in Vista setup connection I should put them in: PC1 WEP 64b key1: D4A71F3G46 Use Chanel 1, 6, 11 or 13 So I don't have a clue where i can find above fields to complete setup. Thanks.
How can I login to my access point via my wired router? I have a netgear wired modem/router connected to my main PC. One of the router ports is connected to a netgear wireless access point 15metres away to share my broadband connection with a couple of wireless laptops in another area. Now I can access the router configuration page from my PC no problem, but I can't access the AP configuration page. When I type the IP address of the AP into my browser I just get a 'cannot find server' message. What am I doing wrong? I'm a bit of a networking noob so please keep the answers simple. Any links to how to pages on the web would be great. Thanks Glenn did you actually read my question ?? I have no problem with my broadband connection... mttjocy thanks for the help. My netgear manual states the IP of my AP is 192.168.0.227 and using this I can't connect. So I looked at the router configuration pages under 'attached devices' and found that the IP of the AP is listed as 192.168.0.4. Using this I can connect to the AP no problem, both through the router and through one of the wireless clients. Any idea why the IP of the AP changed? Is it not static? I must have connected to it using the default IP in the first place as I remember following the manual?? I just worked out my AP also uses DHCP which is why the IP address changed. All working now.

What is the difference in a Wireless g-Access Point, Expander, Range Extender,Signal Booster RF Amplifier? I have a wireless Netgear cable modem gateway on the main computer and my son's XBox 360 has the wireless adapter for XBox Live. I don't have any other devices/computers that need a wireless connection. The problem is, the number & configuration of walls & ceilings and the range between the two make the connection unreliable. There are so many devices to fix the problem...but which one? In general I'm curious to know the difference between all of the mentioned devices. Thank you Thank you!
How to setup wireless access point to primary wireless router ? details inside - need help from techies? hey guys, ok here is the deal. Moving to a new home and it has 3 floors. I am using a linksys wrt54g as primary, and I have a netgear wpn824 collecting dust. I don't think the linksys will have strength to reach all floors so i wanted to see if i can do a wireless router to wireless router access point to give the basement a boost in connection, is that possible ? I know how to setup and have setup access points but in the past i've always plugged router1 into lan port on wireless router/AP. This is different because i'm doing wireless to wireless. So main floor will have cable modem, and linksys wireless, i was hoping i can somehow connect the WPN netgear somewhere on the stairs ceiling to connect to the primary (linksys wireless) and give me more signal downstairs. Is that possible? I've disabled DHCP on 2nd router, and I can connect to it via wireless, but i can't get internet access and i can't ping the primary router so i dont think the wireless portions are connected, meaning i dont think the wireless router 2 is connected to wireless router 1. I've tried adding a static route on router 2 but that didnt work. Do you guys think it's worth setting up for the boost, or will it not even work. here is schematic. Main floor - cable modem, wireless router - router is 192.168.1.1 desktop PC is plugged into wireless router via cat5 basement, i want to have netgear router to boost signal, and was going to wirelessly connect laptop to the netgear (2nd wireless) and then get internet access through wireless connection through the linksys (1st router on main floor). Possible? or is the signal going to be the same even if i get the wireless router 2 to even connect? any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful at this point. Thank you.

how can i use my second router as a wireless access point? i have recently changed to bt total broadband and i now have a home hub, but my old router is now sitting on a table looking sad, i want to know how i can set it up as a wireless access point. here are all the details, kinda: old router: Netgear DGN2000 wireless router new one: bt homehub location: united kingdom (so you dont say "go down to radioshack and pick up blah blah blah") also please try to just answer me in the answer dont give me a million links to troll through. and please dont ask me to "look on the manufacturers website" or "phone customer support" mainly because the website sucks and i hate talking to people, especially people that think im an idiot with 13 fingers and 6 toes who wouldnt know his elbow from his ***. oh and i am going to keep looking on the internet for the result, and if i find it before anyone else. i am legendary.
How simple is it to create a wireless access point? I just found out about this. Do I simply connect an Ethernet chord to the back of my Netgear router and connect another Router, plug it in and now i have more range?
Why can't i connect to wireless access point with an indoor Booster on 24 dbi grid antenna? cant connect while inside house. can connect while outside. Seems to be no signal detected inside. With the booster does the radiation beam from antenna become narrow and harder to align up. signal is also to be picked up by range extender inside to reach the wireless printer in office. Booster is 500mw netcomm. AP = netgear 54Mbps. Range extender is D-link with a 5db antenna. Belkin Wireless modem router for modem and router but wireless is disabled. distance from grid antenna is only about 15m approx. Only 1m approximately all up is from ap to antenna.
Wireless Access Point Help? I have ATT Uverse and I went out and bought a WAP54g and I want to have the WAP54g capture the signal that the ATT Uverse is giving off and then let me run it through a ethernet cable into my computer... I need this because I am running Windows 7 64bit and my NETGEAR wireless card does not support driver in 64bit because Netgear announced they are not releasing drivers in 64bit... I also wanted to know if "bridging" them would require me to go out and buy another WAP54g so one could give off a signal from the Uverse and then the other one upstairs would be able to capture the same AP's signal... And I want this done so I dont have to run a ethernet cable going from my basement to my upstairs... thank you lol but my dad ended up running 75ft of cable going from the basement to my room ended up being easier then he thought...but yeah i discovered the WET54g last night and was thinking about getting that
Trouble connecting new computer to wireless access point.? I just installed a Netgear Wireless PCI Adapter (WPN311) to my newly-built desktop. It seems to have been installed fine. I started the install, shut down when told to do so, installed the card, restarted, and finished the installation program. Now I have both a Netgear program and the default XP Wireless tool to try and connect to my wireless router. I've tried using both, but while it finds the router, it can't actually connect. It WILL connect to the internet when connected to the router via ethernet cable, and it IS NOT a password problem, as I used my wired connection to actually disable the password. Repair function doesn't do anything useful. Any suggestions?
How do I use a router as a wireless access point? (see details please)? Because my current router doesn't have a strong enough signal, I've bought a second one (link below) to use as an access point. To configure it, can I connect it directly to my original router or does it have to connect to the PC itself? http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/RangeMaxNEXTWirelessRoutersandGateways/WNR834B.aspx?detail=System+Requirements
I've reset my Netgear WG602 v2 Wireless Accessd Point to default factory settings, why won't it let me log in? I'm using my wired network to connect to the wireless access point through the default 192.168.0.227 I have held the reset button for 10 seconds, as directed by the instructions When I go to 192.168.0.227, it just times out What is going wrong? How to connect: Router Wireless to (wireless) Access Point and this one to my Wireless Adapter/pc? The router is a D-Link G624T, the access point is a Netgear WG602v4 and the adapter is a D-Link G132. I can't sort out how to make my access point communicate with the router, as what should "ip address and default gateway" be set in either the router and the access point. A link to the manual it's here: http://documentation.netgear.com/wg602v4/enu/202-10279-01/pdfs/FullManual.pdf Thanks in advance
Add another router or access point to my network for LAN coverage? Here is my scenario, I have my Netgear wireless router on the top floor of my house. I want to have full coverage WiFi connectivity throughout my house. I cannot get a wireless connection in my basement. I have a linksys router that is not in use and could use it if need be. Basically, can I connect another router to the network to extend the range in the basement or should I just add an access point in the basement to extend coverage? Not going to bother with a different antenna etc.. Was thinking of just buying a Netgear access point installing it in the basement and calling it a day.. Is this possible and is it the easiest way to get the job done..? Thanks!

The setup utility was unable to locate a G-Wireless Access Point on your network? I have just purchased a Linksys WAP54G Access Point, so i can extend it from my netgear router. I have setup the Access point, by connecting the Ethernet cable which came with the access point to my router and I have plugged in and turned on the power supply. The Power, Act and Link lights all light up when I turn on the power. I then ran the setup CD in my PC. When the setup tried to locate the access point, it returns the message "The setup utility was unable to locate a G-Wireless Access Point on your network. Please make sure your Wireless-G Access Point is powered on and all cables are connected correctly". I have checked the Access point and the router, all cables are connected correctly. Everything is how its supposed to be but the Access Point can't be found by the network. Can you offer any suggestions how I can solve this problem?
Extend WiFi signal range with a Wireless Access Point? Ok, I'm a very avid online gamer, and want to connect my Xbox 360 to the Internet with the fastest connection possible. I have a fairly large house and I live overseas where they build houses with think, CONCRETE walls, so its a little hard to get a signal all over the house. I can get a signal in most places fine with my laptop, but my Xbox has trouble connecting in my room, if it gets a connection its a fairly weak one. If I bought a Wireless Access Point and placed it in a different room would that extend the range/strength of the signal sent from my wireless router? I'm kind of confused about the whole thing.. sorry if the big wall of text scared you. In case you need to know, I have a wireless N router from NETGEAR that I bought earlier this year, so its fairly new.. Well I am looking into NETGEAR APs because I have used NETGEAR equipment for a long time and have found it very reliable. Here is the specific AP I am looking at, though its not very clear on what functions it has... http://netgear.com/Products/APsWirelessControllers/AccessPoints/WNHDE111.aspx A cheaper alternative would be this linksys AP, http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1130267578138&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=7813845678B42 ..but whatever I buy HAS to work well and I will choose the more expensive option unless the differences are subtle, and wired connections are out of the question.
How do i get my wireless access to work? I need help setting up a home internet connection (1 wireless and one cabled connection). I already have a router, a usb router, and a laptop with built in wireless reciever. I am running XP on both. An step by step guide would be very much appreciated, but it doesnt have to be dumbed down, although dumbed down versions are nice. I have a netgear b/g router that has 4 cable ports and sends wireless internet. I have no problem getting wireless on my laptop. The problem is, when i plug in my router to the ethernet cable, it sends out the wireless, but my desktop computer doent get the connection through any of the 4 ethernet ports. Otherwise, my computer works fine when i plug it in normally. i dont need to worry about wireless printing or anything like that, and my router doesnt have a usb slot in it like the wireless access point wizard (supposedly) says it should to stick the settings in. Help would be VERYVERYVERYVERY much appreciated, i am running out of hope with this.
Wireless Access Point? i have my ps3 in my room on the 1st story and my modem and comp are on the 3rd story. i want to be able to host but im only getting a 50% connection from my ps3 to my modem. i was thinking of buying a 2nd modem but i have no fone line to plug it into downstairs. so if i bought a 5 GHZ WIRELESS-N HD ACCESS POINT/BRIDGE and put that next to my ps3, would it connect to my modem upstairs and would i get a 100% connection? heres the link to the access point im thinking of buying..... http://www.netgear.com.au/Products/APsW ... Once my wireless router becomes an access point how can I adminster it? Up until the point that I select the Access Point option I can connect to my Netgear wireless router's administration web interface via http:\\192.168.0.1\. Once I turn on the AP option I do not know how to log into the administration web interface. Thanks Tracy and 'Laid back' for your suggestions. I am looking into the bridge vs AP aspect. It has always worked well in AP mode except when I want to administer it. I have secured it with different base IP address, different SSID, WPA-PSK, admin password, broadcast off. I had not given it a static IP address although I had done a nmap from my linux router/firewall so I knew which IP to try and access via the web interface. I will change to static IP and see if this makes it reachable.
Wireless Access Point Question? I was suggest to get a wireless access point to solve some of my problems on getting internet access to another building on my property. My questions are: 1) How doe Wireless APs work? 2) Where would I plug it in at? 2b) Would it need to be plugged into the router? Here is what I was advised to get: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8891924&st=netgear&type=product&id=1212192931599#tabbed-customerreviews Let me know if this is the best choice/value. Thanks in advance
Can I use my DLink Router Dl-624 as an access point to this new wireless internet in my area called "OI-WiFi"? My Dl-624 DLink Router needs to connect to this: Connection Status: SSID(Network Name): OI-WiFi-98 Address Type: Assigned by DHCP IP Address: 172.16.98.247 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 172.16.98.1 DNS Server: 206.137.30.2 MAC Address: 00-15-6D-52-05-7A This is the ISP's website: www.oiwifi.com I think my answer to this question is: Buying a Netgear wireless bridge router or some wireless router that has an access point.
How to use a Netgear MR814 v3 Router as a WAP with internet connection from a different router? WAP=wireless access point Tried following info on netgear's site. Disabled DHCP on Netgear router and changed IP to be within the range of the router that has the internet connection. However, even though I could access the internet, I could no longer access the Netgear router I'm trying to use as a WAP. I could access it until I try changing its IP. Some have said that you can't get a router to convert to a WAP and still have LAN sharing capabilities, only internet access is possible, but that doesn't seem right. Shouldn't I still be able to access the router converted to a WAP and have regular LAN capabilities? Any ideas?
What would detirmine my connectivity to my wireless connection? First off, I live in a double wide trailer, so signal isn't too hard to get. I have a top-of-the-line Netgear wireless access point setup that gives me almost 100% connectivity even when I'm at the very boundary of my 2-3 acre yard. I want to connect my new Desktop to the internet wirelessly, since another computer is sitting at the main desk. I was browsing in Wal-mart for a good adapter. I came across 3 USB adapters. One was a wireless G, and the box said it gave "good" connectivity. The second was wireless N, saying it had "better" connectivity. The third was wireless N+, giving the "best" connectivity (also saying it was the one you wanted for if you're a gamer, and a you-tuber). Boxes can be deceiving, as I have seen before. Since I have an excellent router, should I go with the minimal adapter, or does both ends of the network have to be strong? I need to know, because I am on a low budget (who isn't these days?), and I want to spend the least amount of money possible. Thanks, Corey Faure
HELP!!, my wireless access point isnt working.? hi all, I'm rele stressing out, I bought a $350 modem router for gaming on my PS3 about 2 weeks ago. Thing is today, I tried connecting my PS3 to the router again, because we had a power cut, and everything shut off. When setting up a wireless access point how can u do it and make it a secure network without a router? i have a netgear wpn802v1 and i want to set up the access point to be secure. i'm going thru the set up but it wont allow me to connect to the default ip address because i dont have it hooked up directly to a router. i need it to be set up from the modem directly. no router because there is only on computer that is connecting to it, but i stay in apts and i dont want anyone using my net. plz only ans if u know what u are talking abt thank u. i already have the netgear website and all the instructions so plz do not refer me to the website for help. i need someone who is familiar with networking to assist not someone who is guessing. no offense to anyone just working on a time limit. ok i go into the ipconfig/all and i get the ip addresses but its not giving me the router info its giving me the info from the modem. when the modem is disconnected and i run the ipconfig it just doesnt display any info. and i am connected to the acces point
How do I connect a PLAYSTATION 2 WIRELESSLY to a LAN? I have a WESTEL wireless gateway router (*from verizon) that gives my home wireless acess for my laptop. Configure Multiple Access Points on Netgear Switch? I am trying to setup and configure multiple access points with Netgear Switch for motel business. Currently the business has one modem and one Wireless Netgear WPN824 Router. I was told you would need a server to setup and configure multiple access point. but i do not understand why you would need a server? Is possible to setup and configure multiple access points on Netgear Switch? If not possible, what is another way to setup and configure multiple access points?
Using USB wireless as Access Point! HELP PLEASE? Okay.. this is probably the most complicated way to do this.. and I would REALLY like somebody to help me out as much as they can! Let me first tell you what the setup is.. Windows XP computer connected to my Netgear Router (not wireless) and one spare USB Wireless Adapter. I want to basically share my wired LAN connection that connects directly connected to my PC and Router and then Broadcast that via the USB adapter so that I can connect on my laptop / other devices around the house! I know it's possible.. but I am hitting brick walls all of the time! I'm always gettin this message: "An error occurred while internet connection sharing was being enabled. Internet connection sharing cannot be enabled. A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing" I have tried pretty much everything.. been through the step-by-step stuff on MS's website.. nothing... nothing at all.. this is really starting to drive me CRAZY! I know it would be quicker and cheaper to buy a wireless router.. but I'm trying to avoid that for other reasons.. Please help!
Netgear WGR614 to Belkin 7230-4 wireless bridge...possible? Is it possible to bridge a Netgear WGR614v5 wireless router to a Belkin 7230-4 v7001 wireless router? Currently, I have the WGR614 configured as a wireless access point for my DSL connection. I bought a Belkin 7230-4 hoping to use it as a bridge between my current setup and my Slingbox. I was going to use DD-WRT to accomplish this, but apparently the hardware version of my Belkin is not currently supported (the version number was not specified on the product page when I bought it). I have set the Belkin up as a bridge using its current firmware, but I cannot get the two routers to communicate with each other. Is this even possible with two different routers? Does the WGR614 even support WDS (I've read conflicting answers)? Might it work if the setup were reversed (i.e. with the Belkin as the main router and the Netgear as the bridge)? I'm leaning toward returning the Belkin and getting two new routers, but I would like to avoid that expense if possible. Any help will be appreciated.

how do i use a wireless router as an access point in my wireless network? I currently have a wireless network with my internet being verizon DSL. The router I have is a dsl modem/wireless router combined in one. What I want to do is buy a second wireless router to use as an internet source for my xbox 360. The 360 wireless usb adapter is a rip-off at $100. I want to just use this second router to pick up the signal, and then have it plugged in through ethernet to the xbox 360. How can I do this - can I use any normal linksys/netgear/dlink wireless router?
NETGEAR 5 GHZ WIRELESS-? Where would i find firmware for a netgear 5ghz hd/gaming wireless n access point? that isnt on the netgear website as the download doesnt work from there
only 1 computer is able to access the internet via wireless? i have a netgear wgr614 wireless router and i can connect fine both with ethernet and wirelessly (this is the computer i used to configure everything on the router). however, my other computer is not able to access the AP. the wireless settings on both are the same and that other computer can connect to other wireless points elsewhere. i also have a device that allows me to watch tv through the internet and it only doesnt work when i use try to do it wirelessly. it says it cannot configure the IP address so i guess this may be a DHCP problem? i dont understand why only the computer that can use wireless is the one i set up the router with. ive experimented with just about everything in the router config page. please help. it turns out i have an access list that only allowed me to access the wireless. however, i had to turn off the WEP key in order for the other computers and devices to access the AP as well. so now my AP is not secured but if i put a WEP key on, only my computer is able to use the AP. what should i do?
Only1 out of 4 laptops can detect both wireless networks running at home-3 r unable to detect presence 1 ntwrk A new Toshiba Laptop,2 Compaq lap tops & the Dell can all see the Netgear wireless single access point which hangs off the Billion ADSL modem. I wish to discconnect the Netgear wireless as the Billion Modem has an inbuilt wireless function. Unfortunately only my 3 year old Dell Inspiron can see/detect the Billion wireless network. Any clues on why 3 laptops which can detect various wireless networks (including the neighbours) are unable to see the Billion modems wireless network. Toshiba laptop running Vista, 2 Compaqs running XP, Dell is running XP.Only the Dell can see the Billion wireless network + the Netgear single access wireless network that is plugged into the Billion router/modem. The other 3 PC's can only detect the Netgear wireless network. I have checked the Billion router/ modem & SSID broadcaste is turned on.

Neatgear Network Connection problem, what is an access point.? I have a connection problem. I have in one residence a computer with a Netgear Wireless N router. Across a devision of about 100 yrds I have another computer in our church where I am trying to connect. This range shoudll not be a problem, perhaps interference. Netgear recommends an access point. My question is, what is an access point? If it connects to my existing router does it just send out a stronger signal? What advantage would I have plugging an access point and setting it next to my router. Or does the access point act as a booster and does not need connected to either computer and acts like a bridge? I am so confused.
