Wireless Signal Boosters

Why does a plug in signal booster interfere with my Sky signal? In order to watch one channel and record another after the digital switch over, I got a set top box. The digi signal isn't great here so I also got a plug in signal booster. It does its job for the digi, but for some reason I get a poorer quality picture from satellite now. It's definitely the signal booster causing it. The booster is 3 feet from the Sky receiver so how can it be interfering?
Would an inline signal amplifier help a regular cable tv signal for a small lcd tv 19inch? One like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/INLINE-AMPLIFIER-CABLE-TV-SATELLITE-SIGNAL-BOOSTER-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ140296311340QQsalenotsupported Or are they more of a gimmic?
Where can you buy a signal booster? I need a signal booster for my laptop. Where can I buy one. I have a toshiba Satellite.
If a tv signal booster improves the signal, what does an aerial distribution amplifier amplify? I want to 'feed' satellite fta channels to four separate tv points
Question about satellite tv; multi dish problem; more details...? OK...My hubby and I have had Dish Network for years; we love it. Recently I got a new tv for the bedroom and we hooked up another receiver. The receiver always worked fine in the other room it was in but since we hooked it up in the bedroom it has problems finding and keeping a signal. It comes up with an error about our multi dish switch...which is new. So, I called Dish customer support and went through all the stuff with them and they said they would have to have someone come out to see if it was in the line. We don't want to have to pay them to come out and fix it because we found out that the installer that came out to hook it up used the old lines that the people had before for cable tv... not satellite wire. So then we decided to try a inline satellite signal booster. It hasn't helped but I think my hubby has it hooked up in the wrong place. It seems to me that it should be hooked to the wire right after it comes out of the multi dish switch and he has it hooked up to the back of the receiver. Where should the booster go and what else can we try? PLEASE DON'T TELL ME THAT I SHOULD CALL DISH NETWORK AGAIN...I want to exhaust all our fix it yourself options before I call them again. Thanks to any suggestions!!
where can i get a free Satellite dish?!?! (and a receiver too!)? I saw thru sheaching w/ google that i can make a wifi signal booster with a satellite dish and receiver.... Plz help
Can you get indoor satellite dishes that can pick up digital TV in poor signal area? I am not allowed a satellite dish as I live in a listed building, not even one of the new discrete ones (the Squish). I cannot pick up freeview with a digital set-top box as we are in an area that gets a weak (or non-existant) signal. The switchover to digital is due to happen in 2010. We have no cable in our area. We cannot even get any of the services offered by Virgin or BT as these need to be able to get a digital signal. Therefore we can only pick up the four basic channels, we can't even pick up channel 5. What I would like to know is how do I get around this. Is there such a thing as an indoor satellite dish that really works? We have tried booster ariels etc but have had no joy. Someone from Sky said they thought you could get an indoor dish, but I can find nothing about it.
Is a TV Preamplifier and a cable signal booster the same? I am currently watching HDTV with my over the air antenna and I want to get something to boost the signal and maybe get more channels and clearer picture. Whats the difference between the two products in the links below? One is a Preamp and one is called a cable signal booster. Will either one get me the same results or are they different somehow? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882172002&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Satellite+TV+-+Receivers+++Accessories-_-WINEGARD-_-82172002 http://www.buy.com/prod/motorola-cable-signal-booster-for-tv-cable-modem-digital-radio/q/loc/101/10412402.html
Question about cellphone signal booster antenna's? I have a satellite internet connection, for those of you that know about them, you know how much they can suck. I'd like to try to get my internet through Alltel, I live in a valley so I get a sudden drop in bars when I get close to my house. When I get onto my roof, and hold the cellphone about 6 and a half feet from the roof I get 3 bars, now my question is that if I get a signal booster antenna will that help me get more bars, I hope so since the antenna in the phone is internal. My plan is to run the wire from the antenna into the house and plug it into the wireless receiver from Alltel, and have that plugged into a wireless router made for cellphone receivers so I can be using my pc's and xbox 360 online at the same time. If it will give me more bars, I'd like some antenna recommendations too, please and thank you for your help.
How to improve coax signal? Will booster work? Hello, I’m looking to boost the signal from my Direct TV multiswitch to one of the receivers. If have two other coax lines from the multiswitch to two receivers that work perfectly. I’m just having issues with a third coax line that doesn’t carry a good enough signal (I get sound but the image is stuck). I tired an inline amplifier and it didn’t work. Will a powered amplifier work better? I saw this thing on Amazon but does it only work for cable TV and not Direct TV / Satellite TV? http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Booster-484095-001-00-Bi-Directional-Amplifier/dp/B000066E6Y Thanks, Seb Star I do recognize that the problem is with my the coax cable between the multiswitch and the receiver in question. Any suggestion what might help if not an amplifier? The cable runs through the walls so replacing it is not really an (affordable) option.
Can i use a splitter to enable my twin tuners on freesat? I have been looking at freesat, and i only have one input in my living room for satellite connection. I have been looking at a booster, and a splitter http://www.amazon.co.uk/Konig-Inline-Satellite-Signal-Booster/dp/B001U4KTU6/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t http://www.amazon.co.uk/Konig-FC-2SPLT-ST-KN-Satellite-F-Splitter/dp/B000NHBNII/ref=pd_bxgy_ce_img_b If i were to put the booster, then the splitter in the line, then into each tuner input on the freesat box would i be able to use both tuners, one for recording and one for watching? Thanks.
What is the difference between an In Line Amplifier and Powered Amplifier on a HDTV System? What is the difference between an In Line Amplifier and Powered Amplifier on a HDTV system? -This one, which requires no outside AC current, or DC power, but gives you a gain of 30db - In-Line Amplifier http://cgi.ebay.com/INLINE-AMPLIFIER-TV-CABLE-SATELLITE-SIGNAL-BOOSTER-HDTV-/160533549566?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25608b91fe#ht_6004wt_1141 But this one, uses AC power, and gives you a gain of 8db -Bidirectional Cable-TV Amplifier http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103093 -Also, this one uses AC power, designed for HDTVs, and gives you a gain of 15db -High-Gain HDTV-FM Signal Amplifier http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3780245 Do I really need a FM trap for a HDTV system? How can you make your own wifi booster? I know how to make the one where you make a satellite dish out of a Chinese strainer and a usb booster but how can make one without having any type of booster? Can you make your own antenna to plug into your laptop to boost your signal?
Any one good at answering a computer question? My man wants to get a signal booster because when it rains the satellite makes the playstation lag or not even get online. Are signal boosters worth the amount they going for?
GPS booster? My car GPS is rubbish at picking up signal (especially when I'm lost!) Does anyone know of a 'signal booster' that you can get to get it to pick up on the satellite quicker and better? Thanks
What is the frequency range of UK Cable TV? I have an in-line 20db (variable) gain signal booster, it's rated at 900-2300Mhz. I think that is primary use is for Satellite systems, so I need to know that it won't attenuate valid (cable TV) frequencies outside this range.
How to rebroadcast outside ambient fm radio signals into a sealed building? we work in an enclosed building that we cannot receive radio signals from outside. we also cannot drill holes in the ceilings or walls to run an antenna cable. we do however have one small sealed window to transmit through. any idea's ?. would like to be able to tune the entire FM broadcast band from seperate radios. one radio being able to tune in one station while yet another listening to another.......................... not a prison however it feels like one sometimes. We don't have a PC avalable and we want local FM stations only. Not satellite radio. while satellite radio is an option. It however rebroadcasts only one station at a time. What I want to do is rebroadcast ALL stations simultaneously within the building. Isn't there a way to mount an inside/outside antenna through glass mounts and also maybe using a signal booster to increase received signal then retransmit the signal somehow ?
Tv signal ghosting problem? I have a set up consisting of (in order) arial, satelite 2, single channel (mnet) decoder, rca-rf modulator (satelite 1), VHS machine, rca-rf modulator (dvd recorder), dvd recorder unit. All this runs into a splitter that splits the tv signal for all channels into 4. One to the tv with everything connected and 3 that go in to other rooms of the house. Problem is that I have a signal booster installed on the aerial lead before any appliances. I have ghosting only on the satellite 2 channel and only in the other rooms. I have tried to re tune to a different frequency for the satellite 2 but this has not helped. Can I and will it help to fir another signal booster after the last appliance to amplify the signal to the other rooms. Keep in mind that only the one channel ghosts and it ghosts the other sattelite (1) channel in the other rooms. The main tv is perfect.
How can I get anything better then dial up internet? I just bought a new home ... I never imagined this possibility. I NEED SPEED ! You thought by the title this would be some easy questions didn't you? I have spent 5 months asking, looking, calling, and well .. I'm exhausted. I am 3 miles from the nearest cable service. 5 miles from DSL availability No cell phone service providers reach. Satellite is not an option - it has limit on data and our family is hard core internet users. EVDO MIGHT work with a $999 signal booster (not including many other hardware costs) - but I don't have a grand to blow just to find out if it MIGHT work. What can I do ?
Internet Sharing With iMac and PC through Ethernet? First i will explain my setup. I am using a Linksys USB54G v 2.0 Wireless adapter that is ran outside on my porch hanging from a nail. Also i have a Homemade Satellite Dish Signal Booster Hooked to the USB adapter through Coax where the adapters antenna would be. This is all Connected to my Windows Vista Ultimate PC. Because the Adapter is not compatible with an iMac or Any type of mac for that matter. What i am trying to do is Hook the Imac from its Ethernet port to the Ethernet port on my PC and use internet connection sharing to have access to the internet on my iMac. At first this was working but after a day or so the imac lost internet and i have failed at every attempt to get it working again. I went to the internet adapter settings under ipv4 for the Ethernet card on the PC that connects to the mac and it had an IP address set for it. I thought that was configured wrong so i set it up to auto detect the IP and have not been able to get it on the net since. I should have wrote down the IP it had set but in a hurry to fix it i didn't think of it now i cannot get the mac online for nothing. Can someone please offer some help or supply me with a resource that can guide me through this setup. i am not totally illiterate when it comes to networking but i only know the basics. I already have a homemade crossover cable that i have used for years to transfer stuff to my Modded Xbox which i can use. I kinda wondwered if it made a dfifference cause like i said at first i had inter acess on my mac and all of a sudden it just quit. when i did have it though the connection was really slow and dropped alot. But as far as setting up the Ad HOC and Bridging the USB to ethernet how would i go about that. since the adapter has to connect to the PC through windows you would have toi use the built in internet connection sharing feature to get internet through the ehternet cable correct?
wireless aircard booster? tried this question before, maybe i made it to detailed, simply, are there any devices that can boost a satellite signal to a laptop computer.
I live in a new complex of six flats and we all share a single Sky dish with very good signal boosters and? splitters fitted etc. Each of the flats has a very good selection of ariel SAT sockets in the rooms. I currently use a standard Sky box fed by a single satellite cable from one of the SAT sockets I have in the lounge and the picture is very good. My question is.... if I run a second cable from the OTHER SAT socket in my lounge along with the one I have in use at present, will the TWO cables feed and support a Pace TDS470N Sky plus box for all facilities to work on the unit. i.e. watch and record different things off the Sky TV planner? Both SAT sockets in the lounge are activated and have good signals. Thanks in advance SAT sockets are the ones that contain a feed from the main dish and you attach a 'F' connector and cable and then run to the receiver connections.
LNB Booster? Is there any booster for satellite in order to boost the quality and power of the LNB out coming signals? If so, Please introduce me some! And also is it possible to connect Two satellite receivers to only one LNB? What if I would use a booster?(I'm using L-band ku LNB) Thank you for your answer!
Can I boost the signal for DirecTV from Dish to BOX? I ran brand new RG-6, approx 75 feet from dish. Wires test well with box on far end (near satellite) and TV on near end (I get a good picture), but as soon as I bring the box inside it just says "searching for sattelite signal...". can I boost this signal? is there anything else I should do? What is a good (not too expensive) booster to use? all suggestions welcome. thanks.
Sirius satellite radio on a ( Non Sirius ) portable boombox? I have a Sirius receiver and want to use my portable boombox at work to listen to Sirius . I bought the boombox made for Sirius but don't want to use it on construction sites . I've seen it done before but cannot get it to work on my portable work radio . I tried changing freq . from 88.1 thru 92.1 . No luck . Is there a special FM booster I could buy to strengthen the signal ? I need a range of 100' to 150' .
Would a antenna booster help get through wireless interference? I am using a wireless ISP service, it is not through a cellphone company. The company website is http://www.rhinocommunications.net. Just to clear any questions, I am living in a rural area, so this is the only option I have at the moment, and I also do a lot of gaming, so satellite is out of the question. My neighbors also use this service, but through some means, they are causing a interference. I should note, these are the only people close enough to cause any type of interference, I have already talked to the manager of this business. However, they maybe using a CB radio or something else that is causing the interference. My neighbors and I do not get along. I have tried to talk to them about this but I have not gotten any answers from them, rather they tend to ignore the question. So my question is, is there any type of antenna boosters that I could possibly buy that will strengthen the signal, which could bypass the interference? Also if so, what should I look for?
Advice on boosting the range of my wireless network. ? I have a Dell Dimension 2100 and a Dell True Mobile 2300 router. The computer is in my basement. I want to use my Dell Inspiron and an iMac upstairs via a wireless network. When I chatted online with Dell Sales, they misdirected me to purchase a Hawkings wireless signal booster. If they had read this forum before they answered my question they would of saved me some time. The Hawkings is not compatable with the True Mobile 2300 because the antennae on the router is not removable. So, I contacted them again and now they suggest the D-Link Wireless range booster. http://www.dlinkshop.com/product.asp?sku=3636205 Can anyone tell me if this product will likely work with my system. I don't trust the Dell online sales people and I'm trying not to spend the money to access Dell Technical Support. I'm also wondering if this range booster would work as well. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1130267578138&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=7813839789B03 thanks, Marc Problem solved by adding a Netgear 54Mbps Wall-Plugged Wireless Range Extender Kit. I just plugged it in at the router, and the other piece in the upstairs outlet and it's solved.
How come my TV only receives two channels, one analog and one digital? I recently got a new Philips Full HD 1080p LED TV with a built-in digital tuner. I connected an RCA antenna to an antenna booster and then connected that to the new TV. All of the antenna cords and screws are tight. When I went to the auto scan channel mode, it picked up a Digital channel and an analog channel- that's all. My old TV used to get AT LEAST three to six channels. I never had cable or any other payed television service and I still don't. How come I can only get two channels? I checked all these website and they say that I am in range to receive a couple other channels through digital TV, without any cable or satellite. My antenna is one of the best indoor antennas out there plus, there's a signal booster connected to it. Please help me!
belkin g wireless router? i am getting a good signal, but went onto maplin website and found signal boosters, i.e replaceable antennas where your current signal would be boosted... so i was thinking of taking the aerial off my router and plugging one end of a coaxial cable into my router and the other end into my digital Satellite dish... what would you suggest?
what is the difference???? whats the difference between a router and a booster.i am satellite connected to the internet via a toshiba laptop via sierra wireless aircard, live on the fringe of a city,i believe it is so slow because the signal is 'weak'which if any would help.?

Would multiple 3G phones setup as multiwan increase data speeds? We live in an area where we cannot get DSL or Cable. The only options we have for internet are satellite, sprint or verizon 3G at 200-600kbps, AT&T at 1.5-3Mbps (but with a 4-5GB cap), a $500 T1 line, dial up, or a "fixed wireless" signal, supposably at 1.5Mbps. I'm skeptical about the fixed wireless, and not sure if I want to spend the money to get started. My other option is this... Our neighbor who lives a mile down the road can get DSL, yet we cannot. The telephone company does not seem to want to work with me in getting coverage here so I could get one or two dsl connections at our neighbor's place, and install an antenna on their roof, and one on ours. Problem is it'll take $300-$400 to get started, and I don't know how I can talk our neighbors into letting us do it. For now I really need a internet connection. I use my sprint phone, which can share its connection to my laptop but its slow. I average about 300kbps or so but with latency between 200 and at times as much as 3000. I think the problem is that I get such a weak signal the phone is constantly searching for a signal. Often I can see it coming in and out of coverage. I thought about installing a cell phone booster, but most if not all are made to take the outdoor signal and bring it indoors. The signal is about the same outdoors as it is indoors, so this will not help. That said, I've been thinking about getting 4 virgin mobile phones and going with the $25 unlimited plan. It runs on the sprint network, and it'll get about the same speeds as I get with my HTC EVO 4G. Although I've worked with a lot of routers before, and I've made my own router before, I've never done multi wan. I'm curious, four 200kbps connections doesn't make one 800kbps connection, does it?? If anything, I know having two will help because most of the delay is spent in the cell phone searching for a signal. Maybe having two to choose from will help. However, they come from the same tower. Its either that or I go with AT&T. Unless I just get a data plan, I'd have to unlock my htc evo and change that over to AT&T, and pay sprint $200 for canceling. Either way, sprint is unlimited and AT&T is not.
What are some options available for me to have a faster internet connection? I have been stuck with dial up internet because of where I live in the country. Recently, my daughter got a cell phone that is faster than my pc at downloading files and stuff. I have looked around the internet and saw that it is possible to use her cell as a modem, and my question is: exactly what do I need to do to do this? The cell phone gets 3G in town, but not at home, but the internet speed is still faster without it compared to my pc. Also, do you guys think I should contact AT&T for wireless internet? The signal at my home may not be strong, maybe 2 bars on a cell phone, so is there an antenna or power booster I could use if I go that route? BTW Satellite internet is out of the question.
Hi guys, I bought a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD (Because of the combination of needing a tv and the built in freeview)? EXCUSE MY LACK OF TECHNICHAL LINGO I live in an apartment and the plan was to drill through my bedroom wall (which is next to the living room) and feed the main signal (the brown lead that comes through your living room wall and you plug into the back of your tv).. So I could get all my freeview channels. For reasons too long to explain, I couldn't drill through the wall so that plan was scrapped. Because I'm also renting I can't hang up a satellite dish/antenna outside my house either. So after doing some research online I was advised to buy a digital freeview (portable) aerial and plug it into the back of my tv. I bought one from argos (£15) and hooked it up correctly (i think), but when I search for channels all I can find are AWFULLY poor quality analgoue channels and zero digital channels. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5352090/c_1/1|category_root|Home+entertainment+and+sat+nav|14419512/c_2/3|cat_15701169|Television+aerials+and+boosters|14419536.htm Can anyone give me advice? Thanks
I have a Toshiba Notebook, it won't connect in some areas of my house, (READ DESCRIPTION) thanks(:? Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4025.- It will connect downstairs by the router, but not upstairs at all. Its not a very big house, old victorian. If anyone knows the router signal or anything to help with my problem, please help. I did ask Best Buy if i could get one of those Wireless Boosters that plug into the USB port, but a worker there showed the very same laptop saying it should connect, and has a very good wireless strength. Im not sure but please help with whatever you know. Thanks a ton.
Can i use a splitter to enable my twin tuners on freesat? I have been looking at freesat, and i only have one input in my living room for satellite connection.
