Wireless Signal Boosters

Tv Antenna Signal Booster Knowledge Base

TV Signal Booster - Do they work ? I currently have a Phillips 20 DB amplified tv antenna which picks up a decent TV signal from a TV tower over 45 miles away. I am trying to figure out if I was to plug my amplified 20 db Phillips TV antenna into a amplified signal booster (say a 20 db signal booster) would I have a better chance of picking up a stronger signal ? or would I take the risk of actually destroying my Phillips 20 db amplified antenna ?
Wondering if I need a second signal booster for TV? We have a regular antenna with a signal booster on the TV. I am going to put a splitter on the cable and run it to a second TV in the house. (It works; I've already tried.) I was wondering if the second TV would get better reception if it had a signal booster too. That way 1 booster wouldn't be taking care of both TV sets.
Tv signal booster is overpowering a channel? I have an antenna on the roof with an inline booster at the source to bring in a weak channel. The problem is that there is a channel around a mile from my house that is overpowering and not allowing my tv to bring it in. Is there any way to boost for the weak signal and still get the strong one?
signal booster for indoor antenna? TV signal reception is very poor in Camarillo, tried different indoor antenna - nothing helped. Will the signal boosters like "Motorola Signal Booster 484095-001-00 Bi-Directional RF Amplifier" be of any help ? Or outdoor antenna is the only option ? Can anyone with experience in this provide some tips.
freeview signal for tv...Antenna.....? my sister has a samsung widescreen tv with built in freeview, and she moved it around (said there was already a weak signal) and no theres no signal at all, we have been up into the loft where the antenna is, have changed cable, tried directly connecting the cable, bought a signal booster and amplifier aswell and still nothing...! could this be a problme isdie the tv which is stopping it picking up the signal or not///??? very confused>>>?
Is a TV Preamplifier and a cable signal booster the same? I am currently watching HDTV with my over the air antenna and I want to get something to boost the signal and maybe get more channels and clearer picture. Whats the difference between the two products in the links below? One is a Preamp and one is called a cable signal booster. Will either one get me the same results or are they different somehow? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882172002&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Satellite+TV+-+Receivers+++Accessories-_-WINEGARD-_-82172002 http://www.buy.com/prod/motorola-cable-signal-booster-for-tv-cable-modem-digital-radio/q/loc/101/10412402.html
antenna booster for my tv? i have a flat antenna for my digtial tv and i have a really bad signal. can i buy one more antenna and hook the 2 together to get better signal? Thank you.
Do tv signal boosters fit all tv's? This may be a stupid question, but I was going to buy a tv signal booster from ebay, and it comes from Hong kong. Will that fit my tv? I have no reception whatsoever as I don't have an antenna, is this all I need to get picture? Thankyou
Boost Antenna Signal for ultra-portable HDTV? I have a Haier 7" Digital HDTV. I use this in my vehicle. Currently, I plug in a DC/AC converter, then plug in the cable booster from Radio Shack (one input, four outputs), and connect an old Sony rabbit ear antenna to booster input, and booster output is an RG6 cable to the coax In on the TV. This works well and receives many HD channels. My questions are: Can I use an "In Line Signal Booster" and do they need "ac power'? (the hope is an Inline would boost as well, and not need AC power)
Problems with TV Aerial (Antenna) on Roof? Right this is the problem, at our home we have a roof aerial (antenna) of which has recently been replaced by the residents who used to live here before we occupied. This aerial (antenna) however does not work unless you choose certain settings on your TV (5V antenna booster and also turn the booster on). We have an LG tv in a bedroom and downstairs of which both allow this option but the small tv in the other bedroom and the Sony Brava in the conservatory do not allow this option and will not pick up a high enough signal strength to receive Freeview television or a decent enough picture on analogue what is the problem this is so confusing?
Best equipment for TV antenna in North Florida? Best equipment for TV antenna in North Florida under lots of Oak trees. Signal coming from Daytona & Jacksonville. I know I will use HD booster & high quality receiver. Any suggestions on the antenna model or good reciever model without breaking the bank. Tired of COMCAST fees going up & up. Thanks. I have been to antenna web many times. I want a brand name & MODEL for good antenna & reciever for OTA.
FM Signal Booster? I just bought a high end A/V but it is not getting good reception. I bought a signal booster that I plug in and it seems to help. It has BOTH a circle LOOP and two ANTENNA. Here is my question: Which one (loop or antenna) is for the FM and which do I adjust for UHF or TV signals.
Why does a digital converter box work on one TV but not on another? One TV (the one that works) has a shorter cable run than the other. Both operate from the same attic antenna. Both TV's receive antenna signal without any problem. Could the cable run be the problem? Is there some sort of a power booster that might help?
Is there a way to troubleshoot where/why I have an inconsistent TV signal? I have a powered rooftop antenna, ran about 50 feet into the house, through a signal booster (the first location that works), then another 30 feet to the tv. There are no splitters, but older coaxial cables. I don't want to replace everything due to lines ran inside the walls. I get every channel available at various times of the day, but no channel is available 100% of the time. I live in a fairly small town, with pretty much no air traffic to speak of.
Are signal boosters for cable lines worth it? I see RCA sells signal boosters for your cable tv and antennas, do they work? I mean how do they boost the signal if some of them dont have power cords?
what do i do when my hdtvs are not getting enough signal from one ota antenna that goes to both tvs?? i have 2 hdtvs, i recently bought and outdoor antenna to get free hd ota. Put it up in the attic and i ran a six foot coax cable from the antenna to the splitter (PREMIUM 4 way Splitter F type Screw - 5~2400 MHz ) and then ran one coax to one tv and a 2nd one to the other tv. all the channels available to me come in very clear but channel 2.1 (cbs) the only way it comes in clear is if i unplug one of the coax from the other tv and then it comes in clear but once i plug in the other coax it freezes the image or goes blank. what can i do to get all the channels clear on all the tvs??? do i need i signal booster if so what kind is good?? i am thiking of addding a 3rd hdtv so what booster would be good??
analog to digital signal for TV receptions sucks? I bought a cheap walmart digital converter with a amp. I assumed the signal amp should be in the line that has the aerial and not in the spot it is can I purchase an in line 75 OHM digital signal booster somewhere like at radio shack and DO THEY EVEN WORK ? I want to hook directly to the line coming from the antennae then into the digital converter and the rest is the way it is set up. How much to these devices cost ?
I need to hook a antenna for a LED tv and make it work? I have a 24 in Sceptre LED TV. And a Philips indoor antenna that says Optimized for HDTV. I have the antenna plugged directly into the TV and the source on TV on the TV. I changed the signal type to air instead of cable and it still says no signal. I tried a different antenna that has a booster and same thing. I know the port on the tv works and the antenna with the booster worked on the last tv and the other antenna is brand new. I live less than 10 miles from the transmit tower. I searched for channels and the TV found nothing. Any ideas on what i'm doing wrong? The antenna isn't a directional antenna according to the box it came in. I don't know anything about polarity. It has a cord built into the antenna and all i done was screw it into the tv port on the tv.
WEAK ANTENNA SIGNAL – SEEKING CREATIVE CHEAP SOLUTION? I have an analog TV. I installed a digital converter. I installed an antenna with a booster. All items work properly. However, the signal is still weak. I am seeking a cheap solution to improve reception. I can not relocate the antenna, unfortunately. Can I use a magnet, speaker cable or any other accessories to improve the signal? I have access to the roof of my building. One thought – if the alloy used for the concealed coil inside the antenna’s plastic housing can be identified and if I can then obtain 20 feet of it, can I connect it to the antenna or the booster and then run such extension to the roof and thereby improve my reception?
Amplifying Antenna Signal for DTV? I (will) have an antenna strapped to my chimney (at the house I'm building), and am going to use digital converter boxes for my TVs. I need to run about 8 different lines around my house, PLUS theres a RG11 line ran between my house and my neighbors house so my neighbor can share my antenna so he doesn't have to have one strapped to his roof as well. How should I run this? I was thinking of a couple options, but I'm not sure how it works. Also I need to know what kind of signal booster/amplifier works with DTV because I tried an amplifier from Time Warner that works on normal cable service and it doesn't work with DTV. So, should I put an amplifier on the main line coming from the antenna and split out to all my rooms, then also split out to the neighbors, and put a second amplifier on that split that goes to his house? Can you put multiple amplifiers in line with each other? Or should I split it coming straight off the antenna into two, then run one next door and one to a splitter for my rooms? Thanks for the help.
Why is my LCD TV stuck on the intro screen (v)? I have an Vizio E3D320VX (no remote). When I turn on the TV it won't boot pass the intro screen! I contacted Vizio and they made me Hard reset it by "turning off the set, unplug from wall, hold the on button for 30 seconds, plug into wall, then turn on"! Still, stuck on intro screen and will not turn off from power button but it will turn on from the power button! I opened the TV and there was a black and white wire soldered to a cell phone antenna signal booster looking sticker on the bezel of the TV. The white wire wasn't connected so I re soldered it but still nothing, can someone please help?
How come my TV only receives two channels, one analog and one digital? I recently got a new Philips Full HD 1080p LED TV with a built-in digital tuner. I connected an RCA antenna to an antenna booster and then connected that to the new TV. All of the antenna cords and screws are tight. When I went to the auto scan channel mode, it picked up a Digital channel and an analog channel- that's all. My old TV used to get AT LEAST three to six channels. I never had cable or any other payed television service and I still don't. How come I can only get two channels? I checked all these website and they say that I am in range to receive a couple other channels through digital TV, without any cable or satellite. My antenna is one of the best indoor antennas out there plus, there's a signal booster connected to it. Please help me!
TV Antenna for WiMax? I was interested to know if it's possible to use TV antenna for WiMax to boost its signal strength! is it possible? I'm living somewhere where I don't have access to any kind of specially made boosters for WiMax, and I needed to know if it's possible to use an alternative to gain a little more strength of signal.
How can I make my tv pick up ABC, right now it only gets fox? Okay so tomorrow is the NHL winter classic and I am stuck at work. Our tv in the break room only picks up fox for some reason. The antenna sucks big time, its broken, and taped together. Do you think a brand new one from wal mart would do the trick, and maybe a signal booster? or is that not needed.
Know of a good booster for an Over the Air Antenna? I have a large antenna in my attic (can't put it outside). It is pointing generally in the correct direction. I'm running a cable from the attic to the basement into a booster then into a splitter for 5 TVs. All TV get a good HD signal. On occasion a station or two (depending on the time of day) is too weak to watch. I'm wondering if someone has purchased a good booster to try and attach near one of the main TVs? Thanks! The amplified splitter somehow cancelled the signal from about 90 to 30. Not sure why this happened.
Verizon Wireless EV-DO Questions? I have the UM150 USB Modem. I want to know if it affects the signal if its right next to a tv or desktop. I am also wondering why sometimes it says its connected and it will say Dormant right beside it. What does that mean? Also if anyone knows if the UM150 USB Modem isn't good for some reason tell me. I usually get 2 bars of signal. I play halo 3 with not to much lag but it does lag, and if theres a antenna signal booster I can purchase what would be the best one to increase my performance on xbox live. Thanks.
Digital and High Definition TV? Whats going on? I bought a HD TV that also picks up Digital. I had a professional Antenna Man install the correct antenna and also a Booster Box, yet the signal still Pixel lats every now and then. Never had a problem with Analogue. Are we being taken to the cleaners?
Our digital signal is crap? our government is forcing us to change, and in my area, they are phasing out the old analog signals soon, but... The TV signal is crap, sometimes it becomes choppy. We should be getting at least 15 channels on digital but only have SBS, ABC, One HD and Ten HD. What's even worse is that analog TV and getting only 3 channels compared to 6 channels from our old TV. We are using the same antenna (indoor, only option for now). So i've tried a better antenna from a portable TV, which was meant for when you're in the outback and has a booster. This is just as bad, if not worse.
I can't watch BBC via digital TV.? We used to be able to watch all BBC channels, but recently our TV has lost signals from BBC completely. (BBC1, 2,3,4, CBBC, Cbeebies, BBC news) We also lost a few channels, too. We can still watch ITV and channel 4,etc though. when we moved this house last spring, the signal from antenna was poor so technician came to fix the booster, but he told us that our TV cable is quite old so we should think about replacing it for a l new digital cable, which we haven't done. Could anyone give us some advice what could be the problems and what we should to next? Do you think the old TV cable is the problem? Or could be something else? Our TV is a fairy new SONY TV so I don't think TV itself is the problem. thank you.
TV "boosters" for outdoor antennas? Have a camper with a booster on its small antenna and get terrific reception in a remote area near Lake of the Ozarks. However, have put up a building with living quarters and will be installing a larger antenna. What is a booster, how does it work, and what type would I need to assure same type of reception as I get on the coax connected antenna through booster in the camper? Any advice? Not so sure about all that info on db, noise, etc. Will receive signals from Columbia MO and Springfield MO, opposite directions.
How can I improve my freeview signal? I'm getting really bad freeview signal on my tv in my room. I have an indoor antenna at the moment but there are barely any channels I can watch without disruption. I live in a block of flats and I'm not allowed to put up outdoor aerials, and I am currently using an indoor aerial. Is there anything I can do to improve the signal? Do signal boosters and amplifiers work? How do they work? I have a TV in the living room which I think is connected to a communal aerial on the roof (thorugh a connection in the wall). That works perfectly. Its the TV in my bedroom I am having problems with. The signal in my area seems OK. Will an amplifier work?
Condo problem with roof antenna.? It appears I have a television antenna on my roof that feeds to the rest of the condo unit, unfortunately the signal booster uses my electricity and I usually shut off the breaker to conserve electricity. Since I don't watch TV, I have no use for it but I'm forced to keep the electricity running. What are my legal options? FYI, I own the condo and I pay my association due on time but electric is not part of the association and I pay it separately.
Digital set top box channel search has no results, but antenna worked fine for analogue? Bought a Toppro digital set top box last week. Antenna on roof > back of STB. Red/White/Yellows into TV (old school one from 90s). STB 'program' comes up on screen, can adjust settings and do a channel search, but no channels are found. WoW guy says might need to get the antenna adjusted, but why has no one else in our area had this problem? Bought a Signal Booster from Dick Smith, to no avail. Isn't this meant to be simple?
Renting with no tv reception at all? I've just moved into a unit that has it's own aerial, not shared, and only one channel works but even that channel is unwatchable..all other channels have no picture or sound at all. This is both analogue and digital when I hook up my set top box. I will try buying a signal booster but there is no signal it seems to boost. Can a landlord rent a place that doesn't even have a service like tv? Is it his obligation to do anything? I am asking because I genuinely don't know how this works as I've never heard of anyone having this problem. I lived 2 streets away before and reception was perfect, so the antenna must be faulty. Is it the landlords responsibility to fix this? I live in Victoria, in Geelong. Actually Jon Doe, I have just googled and where an existing antenna doesn't work, it is the landlords responsibility. I just won in court with my last landlord over repairs she failed to carry out for 8 months...everyone told me i had no rights but I won, she had to do repairs, and the real estate will not take her on again and she is selling. The rules are black and white it seems, and since I'm not kind enough to pay for improvements to a property I dont own...then yes i will pursue this. Funny how everyone on here told me I had no rights, but I beat the landlord in court...just shows... I agree Cho, I think the fact the unit has it's own antenna on the roof is pretty conclusive that tv reception is expected by the tenant...I did check out the antenna as all of the units have different sized ones. Think I am the first tenant, the owner used to live here, then it sold to another. Right now i'm using an inside antenna at least I have snowy pictures to 9 and 10 and sound as well...I think the landlord will oblige as it took them 4 months to find a tenant and I am it, maybe they won't want to lose me again so soon?? hopefully!
Our downstairs tv won't work unless the upstairs tv is turned on? We have a TV upstairs with a built in 5V antenna power option on the menu whereas the tv downstairs does not have this option. Every time we turn the tv on downstairs it says weak/no signal if the tv upstairs is not turned on. We have both tvs running off one aerial so im guessing its an issue with signal strength and a booster may be needed however i haven't got a clue on how to install it or whether it will solve the problem, can somebody help? Btw if it helps the tv downstairs is a samsung and the tv upstairs is an LG
Loss of digital signal? I have the TV coax running to my plasma TV via a DVD recorder. When the DVD recorder is turned off the reception to the TV is good, however as soon as I turn on the DVD player I get the 'Loss of Signal' message. If I record and playback a TV programme the picture is extremely poor. I do have a good antenna with a new booster and RG6 cable. Is there someway of improving the picture quality?
To all TV technicians out there....? I want to know a simple thing before I decide to buy necessities for my HDTV channel signal improvement, I have a GE Amplified Quantum HDTV Antenna which it's installed indoors and it's great overall but I want to make it better for me to watch sporting events on basic channels such as NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX and I also want to know if I can get a signal booster for the purpose to receive more channels because my antenna is located in the Hartford County in CT and if possible can get channels from New Haven. Any help is greatly appreciated!
How can I boost my internet wifi signal? OK, here's the problem. I have internet through my cable TV provider (Time Warner) and I have a wireless router. This works great for the 2 computers at my house. However, I would like to be able to put a computer in my barn office which is about 1/4 mile from my house. TW wants to run another cable to the barn but I'm wondering if there is some kind of antenna or booster that I could hook up to my wireless router that would send the signal to the barn office. Thank you very much for your time and help. I am a computer novice and I am grateful for any help I can get.
would a cell phone have better reception with 2 antennas? im buying a generation x cell phone signal booster (like the as seen on tv ones), and they were cheap, so i thought of buying 2 of them, and i was wondering if you could get even better signal with 2 on your cell phone, and what if 2 were stacked on top of each other, or side by side.
Digital antenna reception? I installed a Terk digital antenna in my attic and a digital converter for my old TV. Reception is mostly good but occasionally the signal gets weak and I get the frayed screen effect. The antenna is positioned in the correct direction The antenna came with it's own small booster. Can I purchase something to boost the signal power and what would be involved with hooking it up? Thanks! No, it is an HDTVo - more powerful than the HDTVa.
To all of you nice people ,please help? here is the deal. i have 2 tvs (hdtv) i bought an outdoor antenna and put it up in the attic, bought PREMIUM 4 way Splitter F type Screw - 5~2400 MHz then ran one to the tvs in my room and a second one to the livinroom, all channels come in very clear but one channel 2.1 ( cbs in chicago) the only way it comes in clear is if i unplug the coax from one tv then it works but i cannt be running up and the down the attic all the time so what can i do to send better signal to both tvs with out lossing the image on one?? signal booster?? what kind?? please help me !!! :(
TV Ariel's? Can anybody reccomend a good tv ariel for my campervan. I was thinking of one with a booster but I don't understand the electrics. Do I need an antenna or will I get a signal from a set top box?
How do you get all the Freeview channels? I live in University Halls (Nottingham) and I recently got myself a TV license and brought my TV up with me (from London). When I plugged in the Freeview box it obviously didn't recognise the London Channels, so I made it search for channels and annoyingly it only picks up BBC1, 2, 3, Dave and E4+1. No matter what I do it won't pick up any more, I've even picked up a signal booster that I've run the antenna cable into and then from that to the box with only an improvement of signal to the channels I have. I know for a fact that the University aerial picks up all the channels because I know others who are able to access all of them, and I also know that the box I have is capable of picking them up because when I went back to London and searched it got every single channel again. Does anyone know of any signal-boosting tips or of something I can do to get the other channels available? Thanks, Matt
Free View TV channels? I am living in a flat in Croydon. As per free view website, I should be getting all free view digital channels in my post code area. However I have trouble getting free view channels like C4, FIVE, ITV. Most of the time I get poor signal message when I switch to those channels. My TV has in built digital tuner. There are atleast 40 apartments in my flat. I am not sure where the common arieal is located. Hence I do not have any control over the arieal. Are there any booster devices available which could help me to watch all the channels? If available, kindly provide me the place where I can get one and the specifications I should go for? Will any indoor antennae help me?
Hi guys, I bought a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD (Because of the combination of needing a tv and the built in freeview)? EXCUSE MY LACK OF TECHNICHAL LINGO I live in an apartment and the plan was to drill through my bedroom wall (which is next to the living room) and feed the main signal (the brown lead that comes through your living room wall and you plug into the back of your tv).. So I could get all my freeview channels. For reasons too long to explain, I couldn't drill through the wall so that plan was scrapped. Because I'm also renting I can't hang up a satellite dish/antenna outside my house either. So after doing some research online I was advised to buy a digital freeview (portable) aerial and plug it into the back of my tv. I bought one from argos (£15) and hooked it up correctly (i think), but when I search for channels all I can find are AWFULLY poor quality analgoue channels and zero digital channels. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5352090/c_1/1|category_root|Home+entertainment+and+sat+nav|14419512/c_2/3|cat_15701169|Television+aerials+and+boosters|14419536.htm Can anyone give me advice? Thanks
How can I improve my Digital reception? We live about 50 miles from two metropolitan broadcast areas. We have used a rooftop antenna to improve the analog signal, and that has served very well. We now have a digital HD TV and can receive a few Digital stations that are broadcast from the same stations as the analog. The problem is these digital stations break up, stop/start and often loosing signal altogether. Once all TV is broadcast in Digital I can only assume that we basically will no longer be able to watch TV because it seems that the Digital stations are not as strong as the analog broadcasts. I guess they will not be providing service to people living beyond the metropolitan area. Cable will never be offered where we live and Dish are not allowed. Anyway I see no reason to pay $100 a month for more commercials than normal TV. Is there some sort of booster available that will enable these digital broadcast to reach us?
Does anyone know how i will do it? After years of not having a television in my room ive decided to turn to the dark side and invest in one!!! Am going to be havin an lcd tv and a dvd recorder with built in freeview.Because the dvd recorder has built in freeview will i still need to get a freeview box for my tv??? Also i dont have a lead coming from the loft aerial(antenna)to plug into the tv/dvd recorder and those crappy aerials you buy(that sit on your tv) wont be good enough to get good signal for my freeview? Will i need to get one of those booster aerials and will it work being as though the freeview is built into my dvd recorder?Any advice on how to connect it all up,recommended equipment to use and how to do it would be much appreciated!!!
Do i use an Access point or Range extender or Router or what ? Ok im gonna try to ask this question one more time, hopefully i get some helpful info. THE BACKGROUND: Ok i have a linksys wrt54G wireless router with high gain antennae in my shop in a nice tidy area hidden away that fits the router and the cable modem only. i have no additional room to put anything in there so putting something in the shop isn't an option. I dont use the net that much at the shop only for placing orders and checking email. The customers use it when they are waiting so it comes in handy and gives em something to do. Plus i have an internet tv in the shop waiting area with hulu/netflix etc so the customers hae access to it as well since we have no cable tv there. Now my home is about 30 feet from my shop and i have a pc with a linksys wirelessG pci card in it. I rarely use the net at my house on my pc. I usually use my phone when i am home (which is rare) THE PROBLEM: Signal in the house is......not so great. Weather interferes and sometimes it drops every now and again (not to mention it's kinda slow). None of this would be an issue except for my punkass brother moved into my vacant 1st floor and he's whining about not having the internet. His kids visit every weekend and the oldest has an xbox and a laptop and the 2 youngest have nintendo ds's. they all wanna connect and cant pick up the signal from my shop. those stupid ds's need something in the house to connect to cuz their range sucks. #1 i am not replacing my shop router #2 no room to install an extender in the shop nor do i want any more EQ in there anyways #3 im not paying for a 2nd connection in the house when i already have internet in the shop SOLUTIONS ???: There are no customers are at the shop on weekends or nights so i dont see why the kids cant use the connection, it wont interrupt anything. Im not paying for another connection to my house it just seems dumb. I just want to know what i can put in my home that will pick up the signal wirelessly from the shop that the kids can connect their various devices to wirelessly. Would i use an access point or a booster or some sort of combo and how would i install them ? Also is their any specific brand or model that has the best range/speed ? No remember whatever i get HAS TO GO IN MY HOUSE, not the shop. @Ntharlan. i already have a 20db high gain antennae on the router and i would rather not wash out my neighbors wifi, theres about 7 of em in the area using their own wifi (including 2 businesses). Also u must understand the xbox and nintendo ds range sucks, they only get like maybe 6foot of signal. I would think a range extender would work cuz my pc picks up the signal, also i could hook up an external antennae to the range extender if i had to.
